Dear Me,

‘You’ve got to be strong’
‘You shouldn’t be seen crying’
‘Don’t show anyone how weak you are’
‘Never tell them how much their words and actions hurt you’
‘No one really knows how you feel, so why bother speak’
‘They’ll never understand what you say, it’s just plain gibberish’
‘If you speak, they’ll tell you to shut up because you’ll speak too much’

Broken Pieces

The loud torrents on the roof above are nothing compared to the pounding beats my heart makes against my rib cage. I sit staring blankly through the window intrigued, the present, gloomy weather a far cry from the bright, yellow, free day minutes ago. I watched as the once brilliant sun sparkling in cornflower blue-sky was suddenly darkened by angry clouds signaling a coming storm.
